Privacy Policy — Calculator: EasySplit

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Calculator: EasySplit (the "App") handles information. The App is a free calculator with a bill-splitting feature, published by John Felix Lim ("we", "us"). It works entirely on your device: it has no user accounts, no servers of ours, and it does not connect to the internet to send or receive your data.

By using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. We have no access to the data you enter, and none of it is sent to us or to any third party.

To work, the App saves the following on your device only, inside the App's private storage that other apps cannot read:

Names and amounts in Split Bill are whatever you choose to type. You decide what to enter, and you can leave any of it out.

Device permissions

The App requests one permission:

Camera — used only when you open the QR scanner in Split Bill to scan a bill or a friend's items shared as a QR code. The camera image is processed on your device to read the QR code. Photos and video are never recorded, saved, or uploaded, and the microphone is not used.

The permission is requested the first time you open the scanner, and the rest of the App works without it. You can withdraw it at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings > Calculator: EasySplit > Camera; Android: Settings > Apps > Calculator: EasySplit > Permissions > Camera).

The App does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, files, microphone, or any account.

Sharing bills and copying results

QR sharing: when you tap “Share bill via QR code” or “Generate QR code”, the App draws a QR code on your screen that contains the bill's names, items, and amounts. Another phone can read it by scanning your screen. The data travels only through that scan; it does not pass through any server. Only show the code to people you want to share the bill with.
Scanning: when you scan a code, the App checks that it is a valid bill, limits its size, and saves a copy on your device.
Copy: the App writes a result to your clipboard only when you tap to copy it. It never reads your clipboard.
Haptics: the App can vibrate on key presses. This uses no personal data and can be turned off in the App.

Third parties, advertising, and analytics

The App contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting services, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. The App is free and has no in-app purchases.

The Apple App Store and Google Play may collect their own information when you download or update the App. That is governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies, not this one.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device until you remove it. We hold no copy, so there is nothing on our side to delete or export.

Delete individual calculation history entries or split bills inside the App.
Uninstall the App, or clear its storage in your device settings, to remove everything it has saved.
Note that your device's own backup service (for example iCloud or Google backup) may include the App's data according to your device settings. That is controlled by you and by the platform provider, not by us.

Security

Because your data is never sent off your device, it is protected by your device's own security, including its lock screen and the operating system's app sandbox. Please keep your device secured. QR codes you generate are readable by anyone who can see them, so share them only with people you trust.

Children's privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). It contains no ads, accounts, or online features. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will help.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, or the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data. Since we do not collect or hold your data, we have nothing to provide or erase, and you can exercise these controls directly inside the App and your device settings. You may contact us at any time with questions or requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if the App gains new features. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will update the App's store listing and this page before it takes effect. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
